Presentation of the Course

The Course is aimed at 70 young rheumatologists (aged less than 40 years) and has been designed to provide comprehensive, intensive training on various aspects of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

The Course will consist of morning and afternoon sessions that will address the following topics:

  • Therapy of SLE, molecular basis of drug action and pharmacogenetics;
  • Evaluation of SLE patients: disease activity, damage, response to therapy, quality of care, EULAR recommendations;
  • Renal involvement in SLE;
  • Neurological involvement in SLE;
  • Skin involvement in SLE;
  • Particular problems in SLE;
  • Pregnancy in SLE;
  • Comorbidities

In addition, each day will include the discussion of difficult clinical cases relating to the day’s topics.

CME Credits

Applications have been forwarded for both national and European credits

Application

Participants should forward their application to the Scientific Secretariat no later than March 17, 2019. Applications should include a short CV (100-150 words), a list of no more than 5 publications, and for physicians-in-training, a letter from their supervisor. Acceptance of the application will be notified by e-mail within April 2, 2019. After formal acceptance the participants should send the payment to the Organizing Secretariat no later than April 28, 2019.

To complete the registration the partecipant  has to follow the following steps:

1. go to: https://ecm.clinexprheumatol.org/ecm-cme-education.asp?Year=2019 (or copy the link in your browser).
2. click on the red bottom "Course registration" relevant to the IX EULAR Scientifically Endorsed Course on SLE"
3. you will be requested to register; please do it, you will then receive an e-mail containing your username and password
4. click on "log on" in the menu on the top and insert your credentials
5. click again on the link "2019" and then on the red bottom "Course registration"
6. check the fields and eventually complete the missing information. At the end click on "confirm"
7. upload the requested documents
8. check all information inserted, and click on "send request"

The registration is now completed, and you will receive an e-mail of confirmation.

Fees

As only a very limited number of single rooms are available, applicants will be mainly lodged in double rooms, to be shared with another participant. Fees per person, including full board and all educational materials, are: 

€ 1,100.00 + VAT (22%) (double room to be shared with another participant); 

€ 1,250.00 + VAT (22%) (single room).

EULAR Scholarships

EULAR will offer up to ten scholarships to attend this course, covering registration, accommodation and full board (but not the travel expenses). Preference will be given to European young rheumatologists (age below 40) or rheumatology trainees, coming from countries with relevant educational and financial needs. No more than one scholarship per center will be awarded.

Applications for the scholarship (short CV, letters of recommendation and reasons to request support) must be sent online to EULAR (https://esor.eular.org/theme/lc_eular/layout/home/course.php?id=29) no later than March 17, 2019.

Applicants should at the same time apply for the Course, forwarding their applications to the Organizing Secretariat (https://ecm.clinexprheumatol.org/ecm-cme-education.asp?Year=2019) no later than March 17, 2019.

Italian Society of Rheumatology (SIR) Scholarships

For Italian Participants: the “Società Italiana di Reumatologia SIR” (Italian Society of Rheumatology) will offer up to ten scholarships to attend this course, covering registration, accommodation and full board. Preference will be given to Italian young rheumatologists (age below 40) or rheumatology trainees who are members of the Society, and must have paid their 2019 membership fee. No more than one scholarship per center will be awarded. Applications (short CV, letters of recommendation and reasons to request support) must be sent meetings@clinexprheumatol.org no later than March 17, 2019.

For Italian Participants: the “Gruppo LES Italiano” (Italian SLE Patients Organization) will offer up to ten scholarships to attend this course, covering registration, accommodation and full board. Preference will be given to Italian young rheumatologists (age below 40) or rheumatology trainees. No more than one scholarship per center will be awarded.
