1. RATIONALE

This course aims to deepen clinical issues in particular the theme of common symptoms in rheumatic diseases, the analysis of different causes and specific therapies.

The topic of Covid 19 as a model of virus-induced rheumatic disease and the use of antirheumatic drugs for the treatment of the virus will also be discussed. Looking at the problem from the perspective of rheumatologists, the main question is whether SARS-CoV-2 infection can trigger the onset of an autoimmune disease. It is not currently possible to formulate a specific answer; however, what appears to be crucial is the need for further investigation into the specific mechanisms underlying the virus' interaction with the immune system, particularly with regard to the potential association between SARS-CoV-2 infection and systemic autoimmune diseases.
